Pearl J. Pender

Pearl Jeanette Pender, 99, Barnesville, MN died on Sunday, September 6, 2009, in the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society, Barnesville. Pearl was born on August 19, 1910 to Perry and Anna (Caldwell) Reynolds on their farmstead in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. She attended an area country school as a girl and grew to womanhood in rural Pelican Rapids. On October 21, 1933, Pearl was united in marriage to Gordon (Jack) Pender at the Congregational Parsonage in Pelican Rapids. Jack and Pearl farmed near Downer, MN, until their retirement in 1965. Jack and Pearl moved to Barnesville in the fall of 1967. Jack died on January 29, 1969 and Pearl lived in her own home until July, 2005, when she moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Barnesville. Pearl was an active member of the Baker-Downer Westminster Presbyterian Church, its Ladies Aid, and Circle. She enjoyed gardening, needle work and quilting. Pearls gift of hospitality was enjoyed by her family and friends. The cookies and treats at Grandmas house will long be remembered. Pearl is survived by two sons: Duane Pender and his wife Sharon of Barnesville, MN, and their children, Michael (Lynn) Pender of Little Falls, Minnesota (Bryan, James and Kaylyn); Debra (Curtis) Pender-Tilleraas of Moorhead (Jenna), and Susan (Terry) Ernst of Moorhead (Spencer); and Gary Pender and his wife Becki of Alexandria, MN, and their children, Kyle of Grand Forks and Kevin of Moorhead. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Pearl was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel (Dave) Pender, May (Harry)Vidger, Hazel (George)Vidger, brothers, Infant Reynolds, Floyd (Clara) Reynolds, brother-in-law, Ray (Myrtle) Pender, and several nieces and nephews. Pearl lost her grandson, Corey, on March 8, 1996. She was looking forward with great anticipation to their reunion in heaven. Visitation: Wednesday from 4:00 " 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville. Funeral service: Thursday, at 11:00 in the Baker-Downer Westminster Presbyterian Church, Baker, Minnesota. Interment: City Cemetery, Barnesville.
