Daniel L. Stetz

Dan L. Stetz, 47, Moorhead, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2008 near Hawley, Minnesota. Dan was born on October 24, 1961 to Wally and Lucy (Sauvageau) Stetz in Moorhead, Minnesota. He grew up in Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School, in 1980. Dan first worked in construction for Diamond Construction and Jalbert Construction in the Fargo area. Dan Stetz and Sandy Jerger were married in Moorhead, Minnesota on May 23, 1987. They moved to Minneapolis, where he worked for Maureen Johnson Manufacturing until 1990, when he returned to the FM area. Dan joined the Fargo Fire Department in 1991 and was currently employed there. In 2006, Dan and his brother Curt started S& S Curbing, a family landscaping business. Dan loved spending time with his family, friends, and fellow firemen. He was an avid Moorhead Spuds fan, considering all four of his children were in sports year round. His favorite activities were hunting, fishing and supporting the Minnesota Twins, Timberwolves, and Vikings. Dan was always the first one to lend a helping hand, whether to build a deck for a friend or finish an addition. He was very passionate about his line of work and could often be found fighting fires on his days off. The Fargo Fire Department was his home away from home. He is survived by his wife Sandy, Moorhead, MN; children, Melissa McDunn-Stetz (fianc Landon Behrens), Brandon, SD; Zack Stetz, Luke Stetz, and Sam Stetz, all of Moorhead; father, Wally Stetz, Barnesville; brothers, Rick (Pam) Stetz, Barnesville; Steve (Marion) Stetz, Moorhead; Don Stetz, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Curt (Becky) Stetz, Barnesville. In-laws, Walt and Mavis Jerger, Rothsay; Rose and Royce Rodacker, Casselton; Ronnie and Deb Jerger, Barnesville; Alan and Nancy Jerger, Rothsay; Susie and Ron Jordan, Fargo; Annette and Stacy Stringer, Blaine; Jon Jerger, Fargo; Sharri and Todd Drussell, Hawley. Nieces and nephews, Jeremy Stetz, Amanda Stetz, Jason Burnside, James and Tawny Stetz, Nick Stetz, Ali and Caleb Stetz, Jason Jerger, Laura Rodacker, Jill Moen, Jesse and Jay Jerger, Jamie and Lisa Jerger, Brandee Rothmeyer, Cole and Brett Barta, Kristen and Candice Jordan, Reese and Rory Schritz, Jonathan Jerger, Sarah and Ben Drussell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy; grandparents, John and Helen Stetz, and Adrian and Annette Sauvageau. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. There will be a Prayer Service Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville, MN.
