David Lynn Butenhoff, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 30 at his lake home on Lake Lizzie in Pelican Rapids, MN a place that he loved dearly. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, 20996 County Highway 20 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Father Bob LaPlante and Reverend Jeff McCracken will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sabin, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00p.m-8:00p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Visitation will be held at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a prayer service at 7:00p.m. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. David Lynn Butenhoff was born on September 6, 1952. He was born in Fargo, ND to Leonard "Butch" and Alice Maie (Rawalt) Butenhoff. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Barnesville and attended Barnesville High School and graduated in 1970. Dave also attended Moorhead Technical College and graduated with an Auto Mechanics degree in 1972. David was full of life and love and did everything to the fullest. David enjoyed many hobbies and took many vacations with his family. He traveled extensively throughout the country. David had a love of cars, especially ones that were fast and loud. He owned his first Corvette in 1974 and the love for Corvettes and classic cars became a true passion. David also had many other hobbies and interests including water and snow skiing, ice fishing and hunting. One of his daily routines was to go to the "round table" for coffee at the Cornfield Cafe with his friends and discuss all the worlds issues on politics and religion. Life will never be the same without David's point-of-view. Dave loved being a grandpa and especially loved the times they would come to the lake and spend time with him. David retired a year ago from farming which he worked hard at and was very good at. He especially enjoyed farming with his brother, Dennis. Over the years they grew potatoes, wheat, barley, sunflowers, sugar beets and most recently soybeans and corn. Dave married Paulette (Lunday) on December 7, 1973. To this union their son Paul David was born. David is survived by the love of his life Joan Jandt Butenhoff, one son Paul (Becky) Butenhoff, Jamestown, ND and two granddaughters Molly Jo and Ava Grace Butenhoff, one brother Dennis (Linda) Butenhoff, Barnesville, MN and their 3 children Amber (Don) Scott of El Paso, TX, Brady (Sonja) Butenhoff, West Fargo, ND, Blaine (Katie) Butenhoff of Olathe, KS. Joans three sons Ryan Jandt and his daughter Skya, Wahpeton, ND, Rodney Jandt (Kim) and their children, Justice, Ethan, Nicolynn of Breckenridge and Ross Jandt and his dog Tucker, Joan's parents Ray and Alice Miranowksi of Kent, MN and several members of Joan's family. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Alice Butenhoff and brother-in-law Elmer Miranowski including many aunts, uncles and cousins.
