Shirley Larson, age 71, a resident of Moorhead, Minnesota, formerly of Barnesville, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead, Minnesota. Visitation: Friday, July 22, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, Minnesota. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 10:00 a.m. " Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville, Minnesota Burial: Barnesville City Cemetery, Barnesville, Minnesota Shirley Jane Dunham was born January 21, 1940, in Barnesville, Minnesota, to Peder and Nellie (Ronnigen) Dunham. She attended school in Barnesville, graduating in 1958. On August 1st, 1959, Shirley was united in marriage to Donald Larson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville. Shirley worked at Barnesville High School as a secretary for a short time then traveled with Don in the army. Upon their return to Barnesville, she worked at Ben Franklin, King Koin Laundry Mat, Dobmeier Funeral Home, Muscatell in Moorhead, and then CBI until she retired in 2005. Shirley Larson was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. You never saw Shirley without a smile or a helping hand. She loved all crafts including sewing and crocheting. She had a contagious laugh. She also donated her time on planning and organizing her class reunions. Shirley is survived by her husband, Donald; three children: Teresa (Terry) Hovde, Debbie (David) Nygard, and Dean (Beth) Larson all of Moorhead; two grandchildren, Lacey Nygard and Emily Larson; and very special and dear friend, Rose Rollie. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant sister, Betty Lou. A special thank you to the Arbor Park Living Center, Eventide and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
