Martha Nesemeier, 104, of Barnesville, Minnesota died Friday, November 12, 2010 in her home in Barnesville. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 17, at 11:00 in the New Hope Lutheran Church, formerly Leonard Lutheran Church, Leonard, North Dakota with Reverend Dwight Meier officiating. Janice Erstad will serve as organist. Pallbearers will be Rodney Nesemeier, Larry Nesemeier, Mark Nesemeier, Dean Nesemeier, Gayland Luedke and Paul Vangsness. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Tingesdahl, David Tingesdahl II, Rienhold Saar, Fred Saar, Brent Saar and Marlin Saar. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 on Wednesday at the Church. Interment will be in Leonard Cemetery, Leonard, North Dakota. Martha, daughter of Herman and Otillie (Schilke) Saar, was born August 27, 1906 near Wild Rose, North Dakota. She moved with her family to the Lynchburg " Leonard, North Dakota area where she attended school and grew to womanhood. After her schooling she worked for a small country store in Lynchburg. Martha married Alfred J. Nesemeier on December 7, 1927 in Leonard. The couple made their home and farmed near Leonard until 1941 when they moved into West Fargo and were employed by the Armour Company. In 1944 they returned to Leonard and farmed there until 1954 when they moved to the Lake Park, Minnesota and Barnesville areas to farm. From 1958 to 1968 they lived in California before returning to Barnesville. Martha worked for the Barnesville Nursing Home from 1969 to 1978. Alfred died in 1994. She continued to live in Barnesville until the time of her death. Martha was a Charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Leonard and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in both Leonard and Barnesville. Martha enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking and baking. She also loved to do quilting, crocheting, embroidering and sewing. Martha is survived by one daughter, Marlys (Clifford) Tingesdahl of rural Frazee, Minnesota; one son, Dwight Nesemeier of Barnesville; one grandson, David (Ranae) Tingesdahl of Rochert, Minnesota; one great-grandson, David G. Tingesdahl at home in Rochert; two brothers, Rienhold (Irene) Saar of Enderlin, North Dakota, Frederick Saar of Wahpeton, North Dakota; two sisters, Luella Thingstad of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Caroline McLaughlin of Fargo. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; her son, Dwain; three sisters, Amanda Nesemeier, Hattie Luedke, Lydia Newman and one brother Edward.
