Donald F. Drake II

Donald Fuller Drake II, 74 died March 6, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. He was the grandson of Dennis W. and Mary Tully of Barnesville (Tully Building), a prominent figure in the early days of Barnesville. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 11:00 in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville, Minnesota with Fr. Gary LaMoine presiding. Lunch will follow at the American Legion Post 153 of Barnesville. Don, son of Donald F. and Olivia (Tully) Drake, was born January 26, 1934 at Ft. Snelling Army Post in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended school and grew to manhood in St. Paul. He joined the U.S. Army and served with the Special Forces completing three tours in Korea during the Korean War. After nearly eight years in the Army, Don was honorably discharged. During this time he married Patricia Lagerstedt. Two sons were born to that union. On May 5, 1962 Don married Sharalyn Bridgeman in Carmel by the sea, California. Two daughters were born to that union and they all made their home in San Jose, California for nearly 40 years. Dons occupation most of his life was a photo lithographer in the printing trade in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the past two and one-half years he and Sharalyn have lived their dream traveling through out the United States in their motor home. They were traveling through Texas when Don became ill with the flu which developed into pneumonia. He passed away 16 days later. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 3982 and the American legion Post # 419 both in Santa Clara, California. He was a life member of the Society 3rd Infantry Division outpost # 54. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association, the California Rifle and Pistol Association and the Garand Collectors Association. Don is survived by his wife Sharalyn; two sons, Donald F. Drake III and his wife Michelle and their son Donald F. Drake IV of Sunnyvale, California and Douglas F. Drake of St. Paul; two daughters, Shannon Dee Drake and her daughter, Kristen Budd both of San Jose, and Dolcie Shawn Wessman and her husband Steve and their daughters, Lily and Mary all of Happy Valley, Oregon.
