William "Bill" M Haspel

William M. Bill Haspel, 56 of rural Barnesville, Minnesota died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in his home. Bill, son of William F.K. and Dorothy (Totland) Haspel, was born June 22, 1953 in Detroit lakes, Minnesota. He attended school and grew to manhood in that area graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1971. He attended Northwest Technical College where he was trained in welding. In March of 1972 he began working for Mid American Steel of Fargo. Bill married Roberta Olsen on September 8, 1973 in Dilworth. They made their home in Moorhead until 1976 when they moved to rural Barnesville where they raised their family. Bill continued to work at Mid American Steel until December of 2009 when his illness forced him to quit. He continued to live in his home near Barnesville until the time of his death. Bill was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Barnesville. He bowled and was president of the Mens Association at the Galaxie Lanes for a number of years. He was an avid hunter and loved deer hunting with a bow as well as a rifle. Bill also enjoyed golf and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Haspel of rural Barnesville; one son, Kyle William Haspel of Barnesville; one daughter, Kelly (Tobias) Burnside of Sabin, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Faith Haspel and Liberty Burnside. 14 brothers and sisters; Diane (Lee) Bentley, Ulen, MN; Susan (Ambrose) Beaudoin, Brooks, MN; Sharon (Duane) Pihlaja, Osage, MN, Kenneth (Lori) Haspel, Detroit Lakes, MN; Charles (Danelle) Haspel, Detroit Lakes, MN; Mary Olson, Bellevue, NE; Joanne (Donny) Mastin, Osage, MN; Ruth (Milton) Nelson, Detroit Lakes, MN; Michael (Brenda) Haspel, Ottertail, MN; Mark Haspel, Richville, MN; Brenda (John) Seley, Lake Park, MN; James Haspel, Detroit Lakes, MN; Wanda (Tony) Bissell, Granite Falls, WA; David Haspel, Las Vegas, NV. His mother-in-law, Fern Olsen; 3 brother-in-laws; Robert (Mary) Olsen; Jerald (Marie) Olsen; Jeffrey Olsen and one sister-in-law Cheryl (Ross) Stein. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Haspel; his father-in-law, Marvin Olsen, and a sister-in-law, Candice Haspel. Funeral Service: Saturday at 2:00 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville. Visitation: Friday from 5:00 " 8:00 with a Prayer Service at 7:30 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before the service on Saturday at the church. Interment: City Cemetery, Barnesville.
