Lorene I. Krebs, 72 of rural Barnesville, Minnesota died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 21, 2010 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Lorene, daughter of Arthur and Laura (Gerhardson) Hammer, was born March 6, 1938 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota where she attended school and grew to womanhood. As a young woman she moved to Minneapolis where she worked as a nanny and in retail sales. She later returned to Fergus Falls. Lorene married Clarence A. Krebs on June 13, 1959 in Fergus Falls. The couple made their home and farmed near Baker, Minnesota where they raised their family. Lorene had an in-home day care for some years. She also worked at the Potato Flake Plant in Barnesville and worked for both the Nursing Home in Barnesville and Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead. She sold Avon products for many years and served as a custodian at her church. Clarence died in 1988. Lorene continued to live on the farm until the time of her death. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, Minnesota and the Ladies Circle. She also taught Sunday school for many years. Lorene was active in Scouts and served as a leader and committee member for more than 10 years. She was active in the local PTA and served as president. She also ran the concession stand at the Baker Softball Diamond. Lorene began and ran a summer craft school out of her home for local kids to express themselves through crafts and art work. She loved to draw and work on any art project. She enjoyed Scrabble, crossword puzzles, quilting, bird watching from her dinning room window and gardening. She also put time and energy into round robin pen pals and singing in the church choir. Supporting her family and extended family was very important to her. She would call her nieces and nephews on their Birthday and sing to them. She enjoyed cooking for her family and one of her greatest joys was attending her grandchildrens events. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, Scott (Jamie) Krebs of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Shari (George) Pearson of Hudson, Wisconsin, Stacy (Robert) Voeller of Moorhead, Steve (Carrie) Krebs of rural Barnesville, Terry (Fianc, Jean Hammer) Krebs also of rural Barnesville and Brian (Svenja) Krebs of Shakopee, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, Aloura Pearson, Sonja Pearson, Kalene Krebs, Katy Jo Krebs, Noah Voeller, Griffin Voeller, Tessa Voeller, Landon Krebs, Sabrina Krebs, Abby Riddering and Mike Palmer; one great-grandson, Jack Riddering. She is also survived by one sister, Cookie Nelson of Erhard, Minnesota; two brothers, Terry (Carla) Hammer of Ambay, Washington, Richard Hammer of Vancouver, Washington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther Thorson, Lila Krebs, Joseph Narde, Elisabeth and Ronald Johnk, Genie Hammer, Janice Hammer and Roxanne Hammer. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins survive her. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Todd; two brothers, Bob and Allen and one sister, Jeanie Sundblad. Visitation: Today, from 5:00 " 8:00 with a prayer service at 6:30 in the Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville. Memorial Service: Wednesday at 11:00 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin. Interment: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sabin.
