Carmen N. Peterson, 79 of Barnesville, Minnesota died Friday, May 28, 2010 in his home in Barnesville. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, June 5, at 11:00 in Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville with Fr. Gary LaMoine presiding. Pallbearers will be Greg Peterson, Bruce Christensen, Mike Christensen, Dennis Gerlach, Charles Varty, Mike Kasprowicz, David Kvidt, Mike Syverson and Dwight Olson. Military Honors by the members of the American Legion Post 153 and the V.F.W. Post 2684 both of Barnesville. Visitation will be Friday, June 4, from 5:00 " 8:00 with a Prayer service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before Mass on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville. Carmen, son of Carl and Nora (Bjerkley) Peterson, was born July 22, 1930 on his familys farm in Fossum Township of Norman County, Minnesota. (Near Twin Valley) He attended school and grew to manhood in that area. He farmed with his family before entering the United States Air Force in 1952. He served as a baker and a cook at Ft. Snelling in St. Paul, Minnesota and was honorably discharged in 1956. He moved to Halstad, Minnesota where he worked for the Halstad Bakery. He moved to Barnesville in 1960 where he owned and operated the City Bakery in Barnesville. He married Leona Nosal on April 24, 1965 at the Assumption Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Barnesville. They retired from the Bakery in 1979. Carmen also worked for area farmers for a time, drove school bus for the Barnesville Schools and worked at the Galaxie Bowling Alley near Barnesville. Leona died on November 11, 1990. Carmen continued to live in Barnesville until the time of his death. He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 153 and the V.F.W. Post 2684 both of Barnesville. He is survived by two brothers, Allan (Lorraine) Peterson of rural Twin Valley, Minnesota and Edgard (Marcy) Peterson of Perham, Minnesota. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
