Wallace Howard Ladwig was born on March 16, 1926 to Walter and Katherine (Thomas) Ladwig on the family farm near Lawndale, MN. He attended country school east of Lawndale (District 72). He then continued high school and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1945. Wally entered the US Army in the early 1950s. He was stationed in Korea for over a year during that time, then stayed in the Army Reserves until 1959. He returned home to the family farm west of Lawndale where he lived his entire life. He worked that land for many years with his family. In 1965, he bought the family farm becoming the third generation of family there. Wally was united in marriage to Jeannie Patten on April 30, 1988 in Pelican Rapids, MN. Wally had a love of fishing and enjoyed the trout stream that ran through the family farm. He was an avid hunter around the home and other places in the US. On one of his hunting adventures he got lost and froze his feet and hands. He raised horses and donkeys which he liked to bring to area parades. He was usually found in his spare time in his fix it shop working on something. He also grew a large garden for many years. As his health failed, Wally moved into the ClayCo Care Center in January of 2009. Wally is survived by two brothers: Ralph Ladwig, White Sulphur Springs, MT, Curtis (MaryLou) Ladwig, Argusville, ND, one sister Dorothy Scheffler, Barnesville, MN, step daughter Carla (Jay) Thompson, Rockwell, IA, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanie Ladwig on July 17, 2009, his parents, two brothers: Bill Ladwig, Lyle Ladwig, sister Charlotte Johnson, and brother in law Lloyd Scheffler.
