Rodney D. Holland

Rodney D. Holland, 45 of Glyndon, Minnesota died Monday, June 30, 2008 in his home. Memorial service will be Wednesday, at 11:00 in St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville with Pastor Wendy Ward officiating. Linda Davidson will sing accompanied by organist Rosie Carr. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 " 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville. Interment will be in Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville. Rodney, son of Vernon and Idella (Meyer) Holland, was born December 13, 1962 in Moorhead. He attended school and grew to manhood in Barnesville, Minnesota. As a young man he moved to Orlando, Florida where he attended the MTA Truck Driving School, graduating in 1991. Rodney was an over the road trucker logging over one million safe miles in his career. He drove for R & R Transportation of Audubon, Magnum Trucking of Fargo, and Tri Campbell Farms of Grafton, North Dakota and Fitzgerald of Sabin. He also drove for Holland Enterprises of Mapleton, North Dakota and most recently, Great Plains Transportation also of Mapleton. Rodney married Karla Thiessen on August 26, 1994 in Grafton, North Dakota. Rodney was a sports fanatic following his favorite teams in baseball and football and he loved the traveling and camping that came with following NASCAR. Rodney is survived by his wife, Karla of Camp Douglas, Wisconsin; two sons, Travis (Tara Thompson) Holland of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Jason Holland of Camp Douglas; one daughter, Jessica Holland of Camp Douglas; one granddaughter, Trinity Alexis Holland of Eau Claire; four sisters and six brothers, Dianne Cihak of Barnesville, Dennis (Jeanette) Holland of Fargo, Sharon (Bob) Hovland of Rothsay, James (Jean) Holland of Galena, Kansas, Bob (Jeri-Dawn Bernu) Holland of Fargo, Sandy Randklev of Lowell, Massachusetts, Roger (Layne Vollmer) Holland of Moorhead, Steve (Ruth) Holland of Barnesville, Greg (Darla Auringer) Holland of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Lori (Troy Naasz) Holland of Moorhead and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Althea Thiessen of Jordan, Minnesota; one sister-in-law, Cari (Robbin) Oxendale and their children, Sydney and Sam; one brother-in-law, Trevor Thiessen all of Jordan. Rodney is also survived by many friends across the country and his beloved dogs, Shasta and Skippy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Idella; two brothers, Gary and Jeffrey; his father-in-law, Stanley; three brothers-in-law, Terry Randklev, Trent Thiessen, Bernard Cihak and niece, Daria Cihak.
