Bernard R. Kuhlmann, 76 of Barnesville, Minnesota died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in his home in Barnesville. Bernard Ronald Kuhlmann, son of Bernhard and Lillian (Hindrickson) Kuhlmann, was born December 5, 1934 in St. Paul, Minnesota where he attended school and grew to manhood. He attended college at Hamline University and the University of Minnesota. Bernie served in the army stationed in Germany. He was employed by the State of Minnesota working for taxation and then the Highway Department for nearly fifty years. Bernie married Sonja (Hurst) Offley on December 14, 1963. They lived in St. Paul and Stillwater, Minnesota before moving to Pelican Rapids, Minnesota in 1980. Bernie commuted home on weekends until he retired to Barnesville. Bernie enjoyed Toastmasters, Church and attending Bible studies. Bernie was a member of Rabbit and Dog Clubs and enjoyed attending the Shows. Bernie liked to play and watch various sports, taking college classes, reading, and doing word puzzles. Bernie was a member at Hosanna Fellowship Church, American Legion, and a life member of the VFW all of Barnesville. Bernie is survived by his wife Sonja of Barnesville; his children and grandchildren, Kern (Bonnie) Kuhlmann and children, Kayla and Kody, Pelican Rapids; Kyloe (Colin) Fisher and children, Tyler and Sam, Carver, Minnesota; Kory (Connie) Kuhlmann and children, Dylan and Andrew, Antioch, California; Klara (Mike Muhler) Julsrud and children, Bradley Muckey, Jesse Allen and Destoni, Fergus Fall. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Kuhlmann, Hillside, New Jersey. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents.
