Steve Peterson

Visitation: Friday, March 11, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, MN. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 2:00 p.m. - Saturday, March 12, 2011, at St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville, MN. Steve Peterson, age 51, a resident of Barnesville, Minnesota, died accidently Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Barnesville Bus Company. Stephen James Peterson was born, July 29, 1959, in Moorhead, Minnesota, the son of Delbert L. and Janet (McEvers) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James United Church of Christ in Barnesville, Minnesota. Steve attended Barnesville schools, graduating in 1978. He joined the Barnesville Volunteer Fire Department in 1980 serving 30 years; replacing his father, Del, who served for 22 years. Steve purchased the Peterson Plumbing and Heating business in 1981, operating it for 30 years. June 1981, Steve was united in marriage to Loni Liebelt. Together they had two children, a son, Tyler, and a daughter, Kasey Lee. Steve along with his family developed 99 acres of housing additions in Barnesville over the past 40 years. Steve met Karen Fritz in 2000; they made a life together until the time of his death. Steve, his father, Del, and his brother, Kim, developed Del-Acres addition in 2006. For over 30 years, Steve was a mechanic and bus driver for the Barnesville Bus Company; becoming part owner in 2001. Steve and his brother, Kim, participated in many activities together including bowling, golf, and shooting pool. Steve was known as a friendly guy, with a smile always on his face. He enjoyed his many friends. Steve was incredibly gifted at fixing things whether it was electrical, plumbing, cars, heating, diesel, etc. He never backed down from a challenge, he could fix most anything. Steve is survived by his children, Tyler Peterson, Fargo, ND, and Kasey Peterson, Hawley, MN; fianc, Karen Fritz, Barnesville, MN; grandson, Mathew; granddaughter, Morgan Lee; mother, Janet Peterson, Barnesville, MN; siblings: Delbert C. (Marjorie) Peterson, Falcon Heights, MN, Debbie (Ron) Jerger, Diane Peterson, and Kim (Michelle) Peterson, all of Barnesville, MN; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Del; grandparents, Stephen and Myrtle McEvers; uncles: Lyle, Jim and Curtis McEvers; and aunt, Bonnie McEvers.
