Rosella D. Arntson

Rosella D. Arntson, 82 of Barnesville, Minnesota died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society. Rosella, daughter of Helmer and Selma (Ronningen) Dunham, was born May 8, 1927 on her family farm in Norwegian Grove Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota where she attended school and grew to womanhood. She graduated from Barnesville High School in 1945. Rosella married Elerth Arntson on July 2, 1949 in the North Immanuel Lutheran Church Parsonage in Norwegian Grove Township. The couple made their home, and farmed, for a short time on the Arntson home place in Tansem Township, Clay County, Minnesota. In 1950 they moved into Moorhead. Rosella worked in the Clay County Courthouse cafeteria beginning in 1960. In the early 1970s she served as the head of housekeeping at St. Ansgars Hospital in Moorhead. She also worked at St. Johns Hospital in Fargo. In 1977 Elerth and Rosella moved back to rural Barnesville and Rosella continued to work in Fargo Moorhead until her retirement in 1993. Elerth died in 2004. She continued to live on the farm until 2008 when she moved into Barnesville. In January of 2009 she became a resident of the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society where she lived until the time of her death. Rosella was a past member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Moorhead where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and made many baby afghans for her grandchildren. Family was everything to Rosella and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to her. Rosella had a love for pictures and family history. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her lefse was the finest. Rosella had a heart for helping people and her kindness and generosity will be missed. She is survived by two daughters, Darby Swanson of Kennewick, Washington and Darla (John) Raske of Glencoe; three sons, Elerth El J. (Denise) Arntson of Bismarck, North Dakota, Ennis (Patrice Hedlund) Arntson of Rice, Minnesota and Ellis Buzz (Lenora) Arntson of Barnesville; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman (Deloris) Dunham; 3 sisters-in-law Nora Fiss, Ruby Dunham and Flo Arntson; one brother-in-law Ray Krier and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson Landon Arntson; two sisters, Irene Krier and Mavis Regelstad; two brothers Juleen and Robert. Visitation: Sunday, from 5:00 " 8:00 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before the funeral at the church.
