Gladys Marie Tweeton, 94, Barnesville, MN died Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society in Barnesville surrounded by family. Gladys was born September 4, 1914, in Barnesville, the daughter of Iver and Inga (Halverson) Swenson. She attended school in Barnesville and graduated in 1933. Gladys worked for her Dad at Swenson Chevrolet for a brief time and in Barnesville for Jensons Caf. For the next 37 years, she was employed by three generations of the Fisch family at JH Fisch Co., a lumberyard in Barnesville. On October 23, 1947 she married Roy Tweeton in Rothsay, MN. They lived in Barnesville. Roy passed away in 1965. Gladys moved back into the home she grew up in. Sometime later, she met her longtime companion Arnie Krabbenhoft . He passed away in 1993. In October of 2005, Gladys moved to Golden Manor Assisted Living Center in Barnesville. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center in Barnesville in 2008. Gladys was a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barnesville where she was baptized and confirmed. During her adult years she taught Sunday school, was a Circle member, assisted with communion preparation, delivered meals on wheels and helped assemble the weekly church bulletin. She was also a member of the Barnesville American Legion Auxiliary Post 153 and the VFW Auxiliary Post 4628. Her favorite pastimes were traveling, gardening, sewing, quilting and baking. She was a caregiver for many of those who were near and dear to her. Gladyss extended family included the Swensons, the Tweetons and the Krabbenhofts. She loved children and had many who held her in their hearts and minds as an auntie and grandmother . In the most recent years of her life, she received devoted care and love from those who assisted with her needs at the Golden Manor and Good Samaritan in Barnesville. She is survived by two sisters, Glorine (Jack) Schulstad, Barnesville and Harriet Lakie, Keizer, OR; dear friend Marge Matejka and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren . Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Roy; sister, Stella Collins; companion, Arnie and nephew, John Tweeton, who was like a son. Funeral Service: Saturday at 10:00 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville. Visitation: Friday from 5:00 " 8:00 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 in the Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before the service on Saturday, at the church.
