Gregory Hughes, age 57, a resident of Barnesville, Minnesota, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota. Visitation: Monday, July 11, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, Minnesota. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Hughes Huey was born October 8, 1953, in Moorhead, Minnesota, to Leonard and Edna (Braton) Hughes. Greg graduated from Barnesville High School in 1971 and in 1973 from Anoka Tech with a degree in Ag Business. In 1973, Greg started working for Northrup King in the Corn Seed Stock Division in Minneapolis, MN. He moved to Moorhead, MN in 1974 continuing to work for Northrup King in their Wheat Research Division. In 1978 Greg joined Cargill Sunflower Research, Glyndon, MN. In 1980 he started working for Sigco Research, Breckenridge, MN as a sales agronomist. Greg has worked for Sigco/Mycogen Seeds for the past 31 years as a sales agronomist, sales manager and most recently as customer and dealer support representative of the Northern Plains District. On April 11, 1981, Greg married his best friend and the love of his life, Kristi S. Hegge. A day he always said was the best day of his life. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and were planning a family trip to Florida this coming winter to celebrate. Together they had three children: Dustin, Travis and Jeremy, all of Barnesville, MN. Greg enjoyed hunting and fishing at a younger age. He also loved to travel. Of all the trips he went on his very favorite were those with Kristi and the boys. The most memorable were trips to Florida to watch the Twins at Spring Training; and Cooperstown, New York to watch Kirby Puckett be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Greg was a big Twins, Viking and Timberwolves fan and he loved to take his boys to as many games as possible. Greg also loved to support his boys with their sports collection and would take them anywhere at any time to get autographs. Greg never failed to tell Kristi or the boys every day that he loved them. Gregory is survived by his wife: Kristi; children: Dustin, Travis and Jeremy, all of Barnesville, MN; brother, Maynard (Lois) Hughes, Canby, MN; special sister-in-law, Wendy (Robin) Raftevold, Detroit Lakes, MN and their daughters, Brianne and Brittany. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Edna; and a brother, James.
