Richard Rich Olson, 61, of Moorhead died on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN. He has been battling ill health and been in hospitals in Fargo and Minneapolis for the past year. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, December 28, 2012 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with Rev. Jerry Protextor officiating. Richard Carl Olson was born on April 30, 1951 in Moorhead, MN to Maynard James and Glenda Mavis (Mallinger). He started out his life in Barnesville, MN. He attended school in Moorhead and graduated in 1969. He attended Moorhead State University for a few years. He sold real estate for Century 21 in Fargo-Moorhead for several years. After that, he opened his own painting business. He was an entrepreneur through the 80s. In the early 1990s he got his insurance license and sold insurance for several agencies through the years. Rich was passionate about anything he did. It was all or nothing. You would often find him working out at the YMCA or playing racquet ball. He was an avid reader and liked quotes and sayings. He was a pool shark in his time. He liked to keep his mind rejuvenated and kept up on current events and happenings. Even on his death bed he made sure that he got his diet Coke to drink. He is survived by one brother David (Shelle) Olson, Lino Lakes, MN. He was preceded in death by his father Maynard Olson and mother Glenda Jenson.
