Loren Wagner, 87, of Barnesville, MN died on Monday February 3, 2014 in his home near Barnesville. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday at St. James United Church of Christ with Pastor Wendy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the City Cemetery, Barnesville, MN. Loren Hallward Wagner was born September 10, 1926 to Herman and Christiane (Haberle) Wagner near Downer. He attended school and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1944. He worked for Kost Brothers for a few years. In 1950, he entered the US Army where he was a sergeant. He served during the Korean Conflict. He returned home to Minnesota and went back to driving truck at Kost Brothers near Downer. Loren Hallward Wagner married Rosella Gehrig on April 18, 1956 in Barnesville, MN. The couple made their home in the Downer, MN area, where they farmed and raised their family. Loren enjoyed ice fishing and hunting. He would deer and pheasant hunt. He liked to play cards including canasta, cribbage, whist, and solitaire. In his younger years he liked bowling. He also enjoyed cooking and baking. He is survived by two sons: Larry Wagner of rural Barnesville, MN and Arnie Wagner of Barnesville; three daughters: Barb Wagner of rural Barnesville, Marianne Wagner of rural Barnesville and June (Cliff) Palmer of Hawley, MN; two grandchildren: Christiane and Nickolas Palmer and two step-grandchildren: Paul Palmer of Missouri and Edwin Palmer of Moorhead, brother John (Vicki) Wagner, Appleton, WI, sister Ardis (Stan) Skogen, Fargo, ND, brothers and sisters in law, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rosella of 50 years; two brothers Myron and Donald Wagner.
