Shirley A. Owen

Shirley A. (Dobmeier) Owen, 87, of Beatrice, Nebraska, formerly of Fargo, North Dakota passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Beatrice Community Hospital in Beatrice, Nebraska. The Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, Minnesota with burial at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Shirley A. Dobmeier was born to John G. and Mildred R. (Rippel) Dobmeier on March 15, 1924 at Grafton, North Dakota. She was raised at Park River, North Dakota where she attended school. She married Lewis V. Dunham, and to this union eight children were born. Shirley moved to Oakes, North Dakota where she raised her children and worked at the Oakes Manor. She later moved to Fargo, North Dakota and on September 17, 1971 married Louis Owen. They made their home in Fargo where she worked at St. Johns Hospital. Louis passed away on June 5, 1973. She continued to make her home in Fargo until January of 2001 when she moved to Beatrice, Nebraska to be near her daughter. Shirley was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church of Beatrice and a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. She enjoyed reading, circle word puzzles and making plastic canvas crafts. She is survived by children, Linda J. (Dunham) Kaas, Beatrice, Nebraska, Daryl Dunham, Bismarck, North Dakota, Dale Dunham, Deer Lodge, Montana and Michael Dunham, Jamestown, North Dakota; two grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; brother, Don Dobmeier of Barnesville, Minnesota; five nephews and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents John G. and Mildred R. (Rippel) Dobmeier, husband, Louis Owen, toddler son Gary Lee Dunham, infant daughter, Joyce Dunham, daughters, Deborah Dunham and Kathyrn (Dunham) Seibel, and sister-in-law, Margaret Dobmeier.
