Lillian Axness, age 88, of Rothsay, Minnesota died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Lillian was born on March 23, 1924 in Norwegian Grove Township to Emil and Gina Julsrud. Lillian grew up and attended school in the Pelican Rapids area. She taught school in the Pelican Rapids and Lawndale School Districts. On November 27, 1954, she married Morris Axness. They lived and farmed in the Rothsay, MN area where they raised their four children. Lillian was a lifelong member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN. Lillian enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cross stitching, quilting, baking and making lefse and flatbread. Lillian is survived by daughters, Beverly of Rothsay, MN, Diane of West Fargo, ND; Son, Mark of Barnesville, MN; grandchildren, Brandon Hoag of West Fargo, ND, Kayla (Hovland) Anderson, Grand Junction, CO, Jason Hovland, New York, NY, Brian Hovland, Lake City, MN; great-grandson, Talon Anderson, Grand Junction, CO; and sister, Eunice Nelson, Pelican Rapids, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Morris; daughter, Donna; sisters Clarice Julsrud and Nora Rollie and brothers, Sanford Julsrud and Mandus Julsrud. Funeral Services: will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids. Visitation: Will be on Friday at the Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and will resume one hour prior to services in the church. Burial: North Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pelican Rapids. Officiating: Pastor Curtis Tilleraas Organist: Ila Mae Ishaug Soloists: Duet Dale and Everett Rollie Honorary Pallbearers: Lillian's Grandchildren - Brandon Hoag, Kayla Anderson, Jason Hovland and Brian Hovland. Active Pallbearers: Everett Rollie, Dale Rollie, Joel Nelson, Gary Nelson, Mike Axness and Tom Axness. The Dobmeier Funeral Home of Barnesville is assisting the family with arrangements.
