Eugena M. Ladwig

Eugena M. Ladwig, 83 of Barnesville, Minnesota died Friday, July, 17, 2009 in the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 am in Faith Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, with Pastor Roger Rotvold officiating. Kathy Rotvold will serve as organist. Hymns for the service will be Abide With Me, Day By Day, Precious Lord, Take My Hand. Visitation will be Monday, from 4 " 7 in the Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Auburn, Iowa. Eugena was born August 13, 1925. She attended school and grew to womanhood in lake City, Iowa graduating from Lake City High School in 1942. She attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa where she received her teaching degree. She taught in country schools in the Lake City area. Eugena married Ray Patten on August 30, 1950. The couple made their home in San Francisco where she worked filing insurance claims. Their daughter Carla was born in San Francisco in 1957. Ray died April 4, 1958. It was at this time they moved back to Lake City, Iowa where she worked for the Lake City school system for over 15 years. She also was employed at Stewart Memorial Hospital where she filed insurance claims. She married Wally Ladwig in April 30, 1988 in Pelican Rapids. The couple made their home in rural Rothsay, Minnesota. Eugena became a resident of the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society in February of this year where she lived until the time of her death. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and especially flowers. She liked to study genealogy and she kept a journal. She also enjoyed cards and other games. Eugena is survived by her husband, Wally of rural Rothsay, and her daughter, Carla (Jay) Thompson of Rockwell, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ida (Hensel) Mohr, her husband Ray Patten, and her brother Melvin Mohr.
