Janita Cihak, 83, of Barnesville died on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 with her family by her side at her home in the Golden Manor Assisted Living in Barnesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 6, 2013 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Barnesville, MN. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Dobmeier Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the mass at the church. Janita Louise Severson was born November 1, 1929 to Knute and Mary (Griffin) Severson in Moorhead, Minnesota. She grew up in Barnesville, MN and attended Assumption Catholic School and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Harold Johnson. To this union three daughters were born Jane, Mary, and Ruth. Harold died in 1957. Janita was united in marriage on February 8, 1959 to Lawrence A. Cihak in Moorhead, Minnesota. To this union three more children were born Jeff, Gerry, and Jill. They made their home on the Cihak home place in Atherton Township near Barnesville where they shared their lives for 49 years, farming and raising their family. They retired in 2002 and continued to live on the farm until July of 2007 when they moved into Barnesville and became residents of Golden Manor Assisted Living. Lawrence died on January 20, 2008. Janita worked at Daves Market, cooked at Assumption School, and the Barnesville Care Center. Janita loved cross word puzzles. She liked to make jellies and did a lot of canning. Family was the utmost important to her. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, St. Anns Guild, and the Assumption Catholic Church. Janita is survived by five children: Jane Carr, Mary Johnson, Ruth Johnson, Jeffrey (Sheila) Cihak, Jill (Philip) Rogers, all of Barnesville, nine grandchildren; Wendell Rogers, Caleb Rogers, Matthew Cihak, Taylor Cihak, Brooke (Matt) Elliott, Brady (Megan Klemisch) Anderson, Isaac (Kelly Mueller) Johnson, Aaron (Laurie) Carr and Mary (Mike Sacrison) Nosal; two great-grandchildren: Christopher Nosal and Chase Oren, two sisters: Elaine Lofgren, Joyce Gilbertson, of Barnesville, one brother Ken Severson of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence and her son Gerry, eight sisters: 9 siblings Jim, Delores, Mary Beth, Clarys, Florence, Margret, Lela, Lucille, and Audrey.
