Marjorie Solum, age 87, of Orangevale, California died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at her home in Orangevale and during her life accomplished many amazing things. Marjorie was born March 16, 1925 in a log cabin on her familys home in Wisconsin the daughter of Richard and Elsie (Bower) Provost. In the 1940s she was crowned prom queen and worked with a special group that made the atomic bomb during World War II. On January 15, 1945 she was united in marriage to Julian Jack Solum in Yakima, Washington. During the 1950s she became a Girl Scout Leader in which she took great pride and during the 1960s she was a homemaker making sure her children did well in school. In the 1970s the bought and owned the town movie theatre and she ran a card room for the gentleman in town. During the 1980s Marjorie worked for a local bakery for several years. Upon retirement they moved California and Oregon and she just recently moved back to California to be close to her family. Marjorie leaves behind her daughters, Bobbie and Bee; grandchildren, Ronnie, Kathie and Juli; great grandchildren, Tishana, Tawny, Tiana, Logan and Jaxon ; great-great grandson, Jayden and two sisters. She was preceded in death her parents and husband, Jack Solum former mayor of Barnesville. Marjories family loves her very much and she will ever be in our hearts. We will always and forever cherish the years she spent with us. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm, Friday, July 13, 2012 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barnesville, Minnesota. Visitation: Will be held on Thursday at the Dobmeier Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and will resume one hour prior to services in the church. Interment: Barnesville City Cemetery, Barnesville, Minnesota The Dobmeier Funeral Home of Barnesville is assisting the family with arrangements.
