August "Auggie" Schindler

August Auggie Schindler, 80 of Barnesville, Minnesota died Saturday, March 27, 2010, in the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 31 at 2:00 in Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville with Fr. Gary LaMoine presiding. Phyllis Peppel will serve as Cantor accompanied by organist Rosie Carr. Pallbearers will be Kevin Boeder, Duane Boeder, Chad Schindler, Carl Haagenson, Melvin Haagenson, Richard Peppel, Raymond Peppel and Byron Boeder. Visitation will be two hours before Mass on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville. Auggie, son of Hermann and Emma (Knorr) Schindler, was born September 22, 1929 on his family farm near Barnesville where he attended school and grew to manhood. Auggie worked for area farmers and lived in the Barnesville area all of his life. In 1998 he became a resident of the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society where he lived until the time of his death. He was a life long member of the Assumption Catholic Church. Auggie enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle and the dice game 6-5-4. Auggie riding his bicycle was a common site in Barnesville and he also enjoyed riding golf carts and 4-wheelers. He made a knitting board for his own use and made many scarves. He also enjoyed writing. Auggie is survived by one brother, Leo (Anita) Schindler of Barnesville; three sisters, Monica Schindler of Barnesville, Marie (Robert) Boeder-Bartholomay of Sheldon, North Dakota and Vicky Heille of Fargo; one brother-in-law, Harvey Haagenson of Clitherall, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Katherine Haagenson.
