Yvonne E. Vonnie Ladwig, 85 of Fremont, Nebraska formerly Barnesville, Minnesota died Saturday, May 16, 2009 in Freemont. Memorial service will be Monday, June 1, 2009 at 11:00 in St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville with Pastor Wendy Ward officiating. Rosie Carr will serve as organist. Interment will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens. Vonnie was born August 1, 1923, one of 11 children born in Tower City, North Dakota to the late Albert and Inga (Tweit) Poach. She grew to a young woman in Glyndon, Minnesota where she graduated from high school in 1941, Valedictorian of her class. She was awarded a scholarship to Business College. She met her husband Howard "Bud" Ladwig at a community dance in Downer, Minnesota. They were married in Barnesville on August 8, 1942. Most of her married life they spent farming near Barnesville, where they raised five children. Bud and Vonnie also lived in Leonard, Bemidji and Big Falls, Minnesota as well as Abercrombie, North Dakota, where they were involved in different business endeavors, before returning to Barnesville. They also spent many winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. Bud died in 1995. Vonnie has spent the past four years living with her daughter, Brenda, in Fremont where she died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Vonnie was a member of St. James United Church of Christ and was very active in her church. She was also involved in various community activities. She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Linda (Dennis) Kasin of Richmond, Minnesota, Brenda Jents of Fremont, James (Valorie) Ladwig of Henderson, Colorado, Steven (Mary Lynn) Ladwig of Republic, Missouri and Mary Ernst of Sioux City, Iowa; 16 Grandchildren, Gregory and Daniel Kasin, Jodi Callahan, Tiffany Bachand, Michael, Tony and Dee Ann Ladwig, Jodi Snell, Heather Clause, Nicole Moore, Michelle Scott, Travis Ladwig, Shari, Dana, Bryan Ernst and Coulton Phillips: 14 treasured great-grandchildren, Zachary, Logan, Mason, Connor, Lindsay, Jordon, Megan, Mitchell, Monica, Emma, Callie, Alexis, Fisher and Emma; one brother, Clifford Poach, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard; nine brothers and sisters; her grandson, Nathan Ernst and her great-grandson, Tyler Kasin.
