Viva E. Fronning, age 78, of Rothsay, Minnesota died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Lake Region Health Care Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Viva E. Riedel was born February 13, 1933 at Moorhead, Minnesota the daughter of Ewald and Agnes Berndt. She was raised in Barnesville, Minnesota and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Russell Gabel and they made their home in Barnesville where she raised eight children. Viva later married Orris Fronning. They made their home in Barnesville until 1975 when they moved to Sabin where they owned and operated the caf. In 1980 they moved to Rothsay where Viva worked at the Rothsay Truck Stop as a cook. Orris passed away in 2003. She has continued to make her home in Rothsay. Viva was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay and the Barnesville American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and working on crossword puzzles. Viva is survived by her children, William (Carolyn) Gabel of Barnesville, MN, Thomas Gabel of Pelican Rapids, MN, Janet Halvorson of Glyndon, MN, Gladys (Arthur) Teager of Tacoma, WA, Linda (Doug) Roers of Alexandria, MN, Mary Gabel of Rothsay, MN and Brenda (Scott) Hoffman of Stewartville, MN; daughter-in-law, Maxine (Fronning) Lammers of Breckinridge, MN; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orris; son, David and granddaughter, Elizabeth. Memorial Service: 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay.
