Lenora Schwartz

Lenora Schwartz, 94, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Sanford Palliative Care Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with Pastor Wendy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Lenora Nettie Eva Slorby was born on October 21, 1918 to Calmer and Nettie (Bakken) Slorby in Barnesville, MN. At the age of 3 months, her mother died and she was adopted by Alvin and Cecelia Scheffler. She grew up and attended school in Barnesville and graduated with the class of 1936. She was united in marriage to Ray Otto Schwartz on June 13, 1940 in Barnesville, MN. They lived in a few different places including, Duluth, MN, New Jersey, Sauk Center, MN, and White Bear Lake, MN. They settled in Barnesville in 1952. As her children got older, Lenora went back to college and majored in business education and minored in art. She taught business education in Felton, MN and then in Lake Park, MN. After living in Barnesville, they moved out to Fish Lake near Pelican Rapids, MN. In 1998, she moved to West Fargo. Lenora was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing. Music and her faith were very important to her. She and her husband Ray loved to travel. She kept in touch with family and friends on the telephone. She was an active member of St. James United Church of Christ. For many years, she also belonged to the Literary League. Lenora is survived by three daughters: Judith (Duane) Nelson, San Diego, CA, Joy (Thomas) Fisch, Fargo, ND, Jerilyn (Todd) Hutton, Billings, MT, 6 grandchildren: Randy (Amy) Nelson, Karin (Robert) Whittaker, Wayne(Melanie) Foslien, Wendy Tarver, Gretchen (Brett) Peterson, Jon Fisch, 10 great grandchildren: Brandon & Nicholas Nelson, Robert Jr. & Adon Whittaker, Ryan & Jolie Foslien, Kelsie & Zachary Tarver, Gavin & Carson Peterson, and many nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray in 1997, brother Harry Scheffler, two sisters: Neola Fry & Elvira Frissell.
