Lloyd Randklev, age 98, a resident of Barnesville, Minnesota, died on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead, Minnesota. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Service: Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville, Minnesota. Burial: St. Marys Cemetery, Barnesville, Minnesota Lloyd Phillip Randklev was born March 23, 1913, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, to Carl and Alma (Hanson) Randklev. He spent his school and early adult years in the Pelican Rapids area until the age of 28, when he was drafted into the Army. He proudly served three years in the European theater, earning the Purple Heart for his service. Following WWII he settled in Barnesville, Minnesota. On September 18, 1947, he married his wife of 63 years, Emma Schindler. The couple resided in Barnesville for 62 years. Together they had four children: Keith, Darrel, Phil and Renae. Lloyd worked in Barnesville until 1969 when he accepted a position at Moorhead State University, retiring from MSU in 1978. Blessed with a healthy, active mind until his last days, he continued to enjoy family and his favorite pastime, fishing, throughout his active retirement years. Lloyd is survived by his wife: Emma; children: Keith (Beth) Randklev, Minnetrista, Minnesota; Darrel (Beth) Randklev, Grand Forks, North Dakota; Phil, Fargo, North Dakota; Renae (Don, Jr.) Setter, Jr., Moorhead, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alma; brothers and sisters: Corrine (TJ) Herzog, Cliff (Emma), Inez (Norman) Berg, Orville (Hazel), Chuck (Kay), Don (Kathy), Lee (Lucy), and Vernon (Betty).
