Vern Duane Quinnild was born on August 6, 1930 to Henry and Dagney (Odegaard) in Moorhead, MN. He grew up on a farm outside of Comstock, MN. He attended school and graduated from the Comstock School. On January 17, 1953 he was united in marriage to Pearl Walker in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They established their home on a farm near Comstock until moving into Barnesville in 1955 where they have lived through the years. Vern loved the land and farmed most of his life with his brother Harold; raising cattle and grains. After retiring from farming, he worked at Deans Bulk Service for a number of years. Vern was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and served on the founding board of the Barnesville Area Clinic. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and Friday night prayer meetings with friends. He also liked playing cards and pool. Vern is survived by two sons: Paul (Carol) Quinnild, Barnesville, MN, and James(Stephanie) Quinnild, Hong Kong; grandchildren: Sheri (Scott) Skogen, Bryan Gray (fiance Stacy Larson), Matt Quinnild, and Samuel, Thomas and Jack Quinnild; great grandchildren: Katie, Alli, McKenzie and Bailey; a brother Harold (Angie) Quinnild, Fargo ND; and a sister Darlene (Bud) Hoppe, Barnesville, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl in 2011, his parents, and a sister Vivian Hoppe.
