Alice Maie Butenhoff

Alice (Rawalt) Butenhoff, 92, formerly of Barnesville, MN, died Saturday, August 2, 2008, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 5, at 11 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, MN, with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating and Anne Morris accompanying on the organ. Pallbearers will be Brady Butenhoff, Blaine Butenhoff, Paul Butenhoff, Amber (Butenhoff) Scott, Lee Skistad, Alvin Hansen, Mary Yahnke, and Theodore Butenhoff. Visitation will be Monday, August 4, from 5-7 PM, with a prayer service at 7, in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, and one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Sabin. There will be a prayer service held at Riverview Place, South Fargo, on Wednesday, August 6, at 1 PM, with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating. Alice, daughter of Harry and Maie (Burt) Rawalt, was born November 25, 1915 in Fargo. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School. She attended and graduated from business college. On June 7, 1941 Alice married Leonard Butch Butenhoff in Fargo. While Butch was stationed with the U.S. Army in San Diego, Alice worked as a bank teller and later at a munitions plant in the Hartford, WI, area. Butch and Alice returned to the Baker area where they made their home on the Butenhoff home place. In 1948 they built a home and established a farm northwest of Barnesville. They continued to live and farm there until Butchs retirement in 1980. They continued to live on the farm until October 1999. Butch died January 20, 2000. Alice moved into Riverview Place in South Fargo. Alice was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, where she was confirmed. Alice enjoyed bowling and playing cards"especially Bridge. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Linda) Butenhoff, Barnesville, and Dave Butenhoff and fianc Joan Jandt, Pelican Rapids. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amber (Don) Scott, Ft. Lewis, WA, Brady (Sonja) Butenhoff, West Fargo, Blaine Butenhoff, Fargo, Paul Butenhoff, Moorhead, and Ryan, Rodney and Ross Jandt, Breckenridge, as well as three great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Jaden and Margaux. Alice is also survived by her twin sister, Ethel Skistad, Gulf Breeze, FL. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Butch; her parents; and her brother Lloyd.
