Gladys Brusven, 103, formerly of Barnesville, MN died on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, May 5, 2014, at Gran Lutheran Church, rural Barnesville, with Rev. Jim Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Gran Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM, Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday morning for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Gladys Myrtle Pederson was born on February 26, 1911, to Emil E. and Inga Christine (Jacobson) Pederson in Prairie View Township, Wilkin Co., Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at North Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended country school through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Carl Johan Brusven on November 26, 1931, on her family farm in rural Pelican Rapids. The couple made their home and farmed in the Pelican Rapids area until 1943, when they moved to and farmed near Barnesville. In 1950, they bought a farm in Humbolt Township near Gran Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed there until their retirement in 1966. They continued to reside on the farm until 1986, when they moved into Barnesville. In May of 2012, at the age of 101, she moved to Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead. She was a member of Gran Lutheran Church and the ladies aid. In her later years, she enjoyed playing bingo and dominos. She spent many hours in the garden raising vegetables for her family. She was talented in sewing, quilting, and embroidering. She kept up on current events and watched the news and read the newspaper diligently. She journaled almost all of her life, until her eyesight failed. She enjoyed baking and made delicious soft buns, lefse, and flat bread. She is survived by seven children: Arland (Sharon) Brusven, Plymouth, MN, LaVaine Davids, St. Cloud, MN, JoAnn (Kenneth) Sanders, Wadena, MN, Charles Brusven, Plymouth, MN, Anita (Leo) Schindler, Barnesville, Janice (Glen) Guida, Barnesville, Marlys (Earl) Kath, Moorhead, 19 grandchildren: Jon (Christine) Brusven, Karen (James) Childs, Wendy (Pete) Haus, Cindy Davids, Vickie (Steve) Zellner, Debbie (Ronald) Ploog, Gary (Laura) Sanders, Randy (Pamela) Sanders, Ricky (Cynthia) Sanders, Kathie (Thomas) Ehly, Jason (Christie) Willett, Michele (James) Gaynor, Ashely Stockwell, Nathan (Tarah) Stockwell, Chad Schindler, TyAnn (Jeff) Anderson, Kevin (Janetta) Guida, Cameron Guida, Kelsee (Ryan) Moen, Katherine Kath, 27 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1994, her parents, grandson Michael Schindler, daughter in law Virginia Brusven, son in law Warner Davids, and four brothers: Tony, Bennie, Ralph, and Lloyd Pederson.
