Doris Thompson, 92 of Barnesville, MN died Monday, May 05, 2014 at ClayCo Care Center, Barnesville. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 9, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Baker, MN with Pastor Loralee Benz officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, rural Sabin. Visitation will be 5-8 Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Dobmeier Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Doris Ruth Fisch was born on November 8, 1921 to J.H. and Martha (Fankhanel) Fisch in Barnesville, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Church in Barnesville. She attended and graduating from Barnesville High School in 1939. She went on to NDSU and Interstate Business College for accounting and business graduating with an associate's degree. Following college, she went to work with her father, J.H. Fisch, and her brother Lawrence in the lumber and construction business. Doris was united in marriage to Forrest "Kidd" A. Thompson on April 3, 1947. The couple made their home and farmed near Baker their entire married lives. She was a homemaker and helped with all of the accounting of the farm. She helped establish Whiskey Creek Farms. She was a member of the Baker Downer Presbyterian Church and a member of the Guild. She is survived by five children: John of Barnesville, Peter of Barnesville, Mary of Fargo, Steven of Barnesville and Susan (John) Van Boening of St. Cloud; one granddaughter, Jan (Thad Thorsness) Thompson of Hawley; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest in 1999; her parents; one grandson, Jamie Thompson in 2007; sister, Pearl Jenson, and brother, Lawrence Fisch.
