Andy Skogen, 85, died on May 8, 2014, at his home in Barnesville, under the care of hospice surrounded by his family. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at the Hope Lutheran Brethren with his nephew Rev. Brad Skogen officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Monday, May 12, 2014, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Dobmeier Funeral Home. Andy Milford Skogen was born on August 3, 1928, in Clay County, MN to Arthur and Rena (Huseby) Skogen. He was baptized and confirmed at Aspelund Church. He attended country school near Pelican Lake. He served in the US Army in the early 1950's. He was united in marriage to LoAnn "Maude" Faye Carr on February 2, 1951, at Webster, SD. They were married for 60 years before LoAnn's death in 2011. They lived in the Pelican Lake area before settling in Barnesville in 1971. He and his dad worked as carpenters building and remodeling many homes. Andy retired from Industrial Builders after 30 plus years. Even after retirement, he stayed busy with many projects. Andy enjoyed wood working. He loved to hunt, fish, spear fish, and ice fish. This last winter was the first time in 70 years that he wasn't able to ice fish. They loved to spend family time on the island on Lake Crystal. He was always happiest when the family was around. Playing cards with family was his favorite past time. He was a member of the American Legion. Andy is survived by his children: Sherry (Steve) Klovstad, Pelican Rapids, MN; Susie (Greg) Lynnes, Pelican Rapids, MN; Pamela Skogen, Barnesville, MN; Sandra (Peter) Waldon, Perham, MN; Cindy (Raymond) Kunz, Barnesville, MN; Lesley (Marc) Connelly, Hillsboro, ND; Lisa (Jay) Roste, Rollag, MN; Scott (Sheri) Skogen, Barnesville, MN; and his faithful companion Minnie. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Casey Klovstad; Samuel (Cassie Pixley) Klovstad; Alex (Katie Pfeifle) Klovstad; Josh Klovstad; Chris Lynnes, Jeremy (Tara) Skogen, Danny (Melissa)Griffin, Tami (Jeff) Courtney, Ben (Courtney Hoffman) Waldon, Andrew (Mikaela Eikschen) Waldon; Valerie (Matt) Hay; Kayla (Tom) Shaw; Shenay Connelly; Jake Connelly; Michael Connelly; Joey Roste; Katie Skogen, Ali Skogen, McKenzie Skogen, and 17 great-grandchildren: Kloe , Tyler, Bailey, Bryce, Brenna, Brooklyn, Brandi, Bridget, Mason; Josie, Ava; Griffin; Grace; Olivia; Madilyne; Gabriella; Liam; one brother, Cal (Dorothy) Skogen, Fergus Falls; and one sister, Corrine (Dennis) Gilbertson, Benson, AZ; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife LoAnn in 2011; one son, Bruce; and son-in-law Lonnie Griffin; and two brothers: Ray and Kermit Skogen.
