Elaine Kava, 86, of Barnesville, MN died at the Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Barnesville. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Monday, August 11, 2014 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Elaine Margaret Kamrowski was born on August 20, 1927 to Anton and Josephine (Nicklay) Kamrowski in Winona, MN. She grew up in Barnesville and attended school, graduating high school in 1945, after which she worked in Fargo, ND. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Leo Kava on October 8, 1947. To this union eight children were born. She was a partner in the cattle business with Lawrence. Elaine worked for Korb Tax Service for many years, continuing with Gilbertson Tax Office. She and a dear friend did upholstery work for many years and she was a skilled seamstress and embroiderer. As a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church, she was active in St. Ann's Guild, Lady Foresters, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. In her community, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Homemakers Group and Barnesville Potato Days Committees. Elaine is survived by eight children: Phyllis (Jerry) Miller of Prior Lake, MN, Jim (Linda) of Fargo, ND, Joseph (Carolyn) of Hawley, MN, Cecelia (Michael) Dolan of Edina, MN, Katherine (Thomas) Askegaard of Comstock, MN, Frank (special friend Patty Wiczek) of Barnesville, Becky (Dana) Eggiman of Barnesville, Diane (Larry) Cook of Farmington, MN, 21 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 5 brothers: Ralph (Beverly) Kamrowski of Sierra Vista, AZ, Louie Kamrowski of Fergus Falls, MN, Jerome (Judy) Kamrowski of Baldwin, WI, Cyril (Sharon) Kamrowski of Nevis, MN, Fred (Lu) Kamrowski of McGregor, MN. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on July 9, 2005, granddaughter, Kelly Elaine Quiggle, brother, Joseph, sister, Mae Berg, and her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to your favorite charity or Hospice of the Red River Valley in memory of Elaine.
