Donald Braton

Donald Braton, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at ClayCo Care Center in Barnesville, MN with his loving family at his side. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. James United Church of Christ in Barnesville, MN with Pastor Wendy Ward officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Prairie View Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Friday August 29, 2014 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. Donald Delos Braton was born on October 12, 1932 to Walter E. and Marie (Garrison) Braton in Prairie View Township near Barnesville, MN. He attended country school and graduated in 1950 from Barnesville High School. He entered the US Army and served his country from January of 1953 until January 1955. After returning home, he returned to the family farm where he continued the family legacy of farming in Prairie View Township which included dairy and grain. Donald was married to Sally Wibe on October 12, 1955 at Our Saviors Church in Barnesville. They made their home a mile from where he grew up and returned to the original family farm in 1958. He was a member of St. James Church where he served on various boards. He also served on the Prairie View Township Board, was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the Barnesville Lions, and the VFW in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Commodities distribution, and worked with the HELPERS. Don and Sally wintered in Arizona for 10 years and also liked to travel. Don is survived by his wife Sally; six children: Janet (Jim) Clifford, Minot, ND, Jerry (Mary) Braton, Aitkin, MN, Mark (Hollie) Braton, Pelican Rapids, Susie (Bruce) Bowen, Barnesville, Jo (Kelly) Boyd, Buffalo, ND, and Bill (Kathy) Braton, Barnesville, MN; 18 grandchildren: Jed and Joel Clifford, Paul (Cori) Braton, Anne Braton and Jack Braton, Brian (Shannon) Braton, Josh (Shanna) Braton, Hope Braton, Heather (Ryan) Hough, Katie (James) Stock, Callie, Charlie, Jon, Angie, and Laura Bowen, Shelby (fiancée Matt Basner) Boyd , Justin Braton, and Matthew Ouellette; and 3 great grandchildren: Zoie, Coye Braton, and Logan Stock. He is also survived by one sister Darlene (DuWayne) Hines of Barnesville; sister- in-law Eunice Hubrig, Minot, ND; brother-in-law Terry (LouAnn) Wibe, Wentzville, MO; sister-in-law LaVonne Wibe, San Diego, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Doyle Braton.
