(Wilson) Boone was born on May 31, 1922, the second oldest child of Abraham and Mary (Charboneau) Wilson in Skree Township near Downer, Minnesota. She attended school there. She spent a year at the Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. As a young woman, Elsie worked for the Steening Family in their home. On December 30, 1941 Elsie married Donald Boone in Webster, South Dakota. They worked together in the custom bailing business before settling in Barnesville, where they raised their four children. When the children were older, Elsie worked in housekeeping for many families in the area. She truly enjoyed her working relationships for many years. Elsie's other joy in life was driving her car and giving transportation to anyone in need of assistance. Both she and Donald were people of service to others and were honored in 1979-1980 by the Barnesville Jaycees with the distinguished Service Award! Elsie also was a hard worker, an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Donald passed away February 19, 1986. Elsie continued to live in the family home until September of 2010, when she moved to live with her daughter Wanda. In September of 2013, Elsie resided in Barnesville, Minnesota at the ClayCo Care Center. It was there that Elsie passed away on September 22, 2014, at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 22 days. Elsie was a lifetime member of St. James United Church of Christ and was active in the ladies aid. Elsie is survived by her children: Mary Lou (Richard) Thompson and Leonard (Carolyn) Boone all of Barnesville; Wanda (Joseph) Bouret of New Rockford, North Dakota, daughter-in-law Pat Boone of McHenry, Illinois; one sister Ethel Baker of Killgore, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Preceding Elsie in death were her parents; her husband Donald; her son Ronald in 2010, and her great grand-daughter Savannah Boone; and her siblings: James, Sammy, Abraham and Charles Wilson. May God bless the memory of Elsie; we will all miss her very much! Our special gratitude to all of mom's doctors and care givers at the ClayCo Care Center in Barnesville for their loving kindness, compassion and care shown to her and our family throughout her stay there.
