Eunice Flaten, 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at ClayCo Care Center, Barnesville, Minnesota. Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Gran Lutheran Church in rural Hawley with Pastors Jim Greene and Keith Walka officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral. Eunice Gulbranson was born on September 17, 1927 to Albert Ole and Tillie (Juvelund) Gulbranson at home in Tansem Township, Clay County, MN. She was baptized at Aspeland Church. She attended country school district #14. She moved to California as a young woman and worked as a nanny. She married Herbert Flaten on September 13, 1956 and they made their home in rural Hawley all of her life. She loved her Gran Church and family, where she taught Sunday school and was active in bible studies and the ladies aid. She liked to sew and make crafts, also enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and walking. She is survived by her daughter Brenda (David) Emerson of Hawley, son Robert (Tammy) Flaten of Hawley, five grandchildren: Jennifer (Chad Ostlund) Emerson, Bethany (Quinn) Hawley, Jason (Melissa) Emerson, Kari (Matthew) Skauge, Kristi (Shawn) Uhlig, four great grandchildren: Makayla, Faith, Brayden, George, one brother Gary (Mary) Gulbranson of Moorhead, and one sister Diane Flaten of Hawley, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
