Daniel Wolter, 83, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Elim Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Dobmeier Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 15, 2014 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN with Father Gary LaMoine officiating. Burial will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Daniel Peter Wolter was born on January 30, 1931 to Joseph and Elizabeth (Kramer) Wolter in Richmond, MN the youngest of 12 children. He was raised on a rural farm near Watkins, MN where he attended St. Anthony Catholic School in Watkins. He enlisted in the Army, January of 1949, honorably serving his country until January of 1952. He married Marilyn June Bruegger in Minneapolis, MN on February 6, 1954. They started their married life out in the Twin Cities. From 1962 to 1967, they lived in Moorhead. Dan and Marilyn settled in Barnesville in 1967 until this past summer. Trucking was Dan's love, and drove mostly for Janesville Auto Transport out of Dilworth, MN from 1957 to 1993. After he retired, Dan continued working with local farmers during the potato and sugar beet harvests. He also worked for Morgan Drive Away, delivering newly manufactured buses to several destinations in North America, and also for the Viessman Trucking, driving a food grade tanker truck. He enjoyed truck driving, fishing, camping, country music, and rodeos. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion in Barnesville. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn, Moorhead, MN, three children: Shelley (Luther) Blilie, Comstock, MN, Bonnie Lutmer, Minneapolis, MN, Kevin (Angie) Wolter, St. Paul, MN, Grandchildren: Cory (Amber) Blilie, Kelly (Stefanie) Blilie, Lindsey (Ryan) Rydlund, Lisa Lutmer, Jared Lutmer, step grandchildren, Cody Smith, and Samantha Smith; great grandchildren: Hunter, Macie, Brayden, Brynn, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 11 siblings.
