Dennis Brown, died on Friday, January 2, 2015, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley with his daughter Frankie and sister Lois by his side. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN. Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Friday, January 9, 2015, at Dobmeier Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Dennis Jerome Brown was born on September 7, 1946, to Myron Jerome and Catherine Agnes (Benkouski) Brown in Fargo, ND. He grew up in Dilworth and in Moorhead. He attended schools in Dilworth, St. Frances de Sales, Moorhead Junior and Senior High graduating in 1964. He entered the US Army on December 20, 1965; he served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on December 8, 1967. When returning home from the service he went to work for Western Electric for nine years. He moved to Barnesville in 1969. He worked in the telephone industry for a total of 37 years, 26 of those years, for the City of Barnesville. He retired in 2002. Dennis was married to Theresa Treichel for several years. Dennis' grandchildren were a highlight for him, and he cherished the time they spent together. He served on the Barnesville Volunteer Fire Department for about 20 years and had served as Fire Chief during part of those years. He was a member of the VFW in Barnesville. He loved old cars and his 1970 GMC Truck "Old Yeller." He raised pigeons for many years and belonged to a pigeon club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Dennis had a special companion of Sandra Huss, he was blessed with their relationship, they spent many years together laughing and traveling. He is survived by one daughter: Frankie (Tommy) Tweeton, Perham, MN, two sons: Mark Brown, Moorhead, MN, Paul Brown, Fergus Falls, MN, grandchildren: Abigail Tweeton, Reier Tweeton, Andrew Dolak, Cody Buchanan, two siblings: Lois Hickman, Roseville, CA, Lowell (Beverly) Brown, Moorhead, his longtime companion Sandra Huss, Moorhead, MN, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by a daughter Tina Brown, his parents, and brother Neil Brown. Memorials suggested to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
