Matt Holland, 19, died on Saturday, January 17, 2015, of complications from a seizure at Mayville State University in Mayville, ND. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Barnesville High School with Pastor Tom Eaves officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville, MN. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held from 1-2 at the high school in Wednesday. Matthew Richard Holland was born on January 15, 1996, to Chad Thomas and Rhonda Marie (Smallarz) Holland in Fargo, ND. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Barnesville. He attended school in Barnesville and graduated with the Class of 2014. He loved being a teammate, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He also sang with the choir. He will be remembered as the classmate who was funny, happy, and made everyone laugh. He had a knack of remembering and repeating lines from his favorite movies. Matt was currently a freshman at Mayville State University and a member of the football team. He was a true Minnesota Vikings Fan. His girlfriend Sidney Janssen meant the world to him and he was proud to be an uncle to his niece Chelsea. Matt is survived by his parents Chad and Rhonda Holland; two brothers: Todd (Jana) Holland of West Fargo, ND and James Holland of Fargo, ND; niece Chelsea Holland; great grandmother Dorothy Holland of Barnesville; grandparents Ronald and Lucille Smallarz of Fargo, ND; uncles and aunts: Kevin Smallarz, Debbie (John) Larson, David (Connie) Smallarz, Roberta (Brandon) Winge, Troy (Jennifer) Holland and Cory (Carol) Holland; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
