Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly, 71, died on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at his home in Baker, MN with his family surrounding him. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Baker, MN with Pastor Lorelee Benz officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, rural Sabin, MN. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Monday, January 26, 2015, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Baker, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Michael Lawrence Connelly was born on April 30, 1943 to Lawrence Raymond and Ruth Adele (Thompson) Connelly in Moorhead, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at the Baker Presbyterian Church. He grew up on a farm in rural Sabin. He attended country school near Sabin, and then Moorhead, and attended the Crookston Agriculture graduating in 1961. He served in the Army Air Guard for a short time. He was united in marriage to Anita Jean Sorum at Our Saviors in Barnesville on November 14, 1964. They made their home on the family farm just outside of Baker where they have always lived. Mike farmed all of his life. He worked for Betaseed for 19 years. After his retirement, he looked forward to helping during the planting and harvest season with Tim Thompson. His passion was tinkering in his shop, working on his tractors, and manicuring his lawn. He treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and the last three summers have been spent making precious memories with his family at Little Cormorant Lake. Michael is survived by his wife of 50 years Anita, two children: Marc (Lesley) Connelly, Hillsboro, ND, Kristi (Warren) Moe, Oakes, ND, 6 grandchildren: Shenay, Jake, and Michael Connelly, Shayla (Fiancée Matt Heine) Moe, Shelby Moe, two sisters: Gail Suko, Tamarac Lake, MN, Marge (Gerald) Barth, Yankton, SD, Sister in law Judy (Frank) Thompson, Baker, MN, brother in law Virgel "Gootch" Tableman, Barnesville, MN, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many other special friends who were near and dear to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and sister Gretchen Olsgaard. Mike Connelly funeral folder
