Rebecca Jean Tonsfeldt

Rebecca Jean Tonsfeldt was born February 16, 1925 and died March 20, 2015. Her parents were Connie (Cornish) and Ralph Simenson. After moving quite frequently during the Great Depression, Becky lived with her aunt and uncle, Lella and Rudy Possehl, while she attended and graduated from high school in Comstock, Minnesota. She later attended business school in Fargo and worked for a time at Fort Lewis, Washington, during World War II. Becky married Wayne Tonsfeldt September 11, 1943. As a town girl, she eagerly learned about farm life, and with devotion loved her husband, family, and rural living. An intelligent, witty, hard-working woman, Becky's personal value system focused on faith, building meaningful relationships, using common sense, and having fun to balance her work ethic. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, a daily walk around the section, her book club, Arizona winters, keeping track of sports, and learning something new every day. Later in life, she loved going for rides to see the farm crops. Becky is survived by son, Dean (Mae) Tonsfeldt, Oxbow, ND, daughters, Karen (David) Farrington, Lakeville, MN, and Renee (Wayne) Hanson, Barnesville, MN. Grandchildren are Carla Grafstrom, Maple Grove, MN, Ryan (Michelle) Tonsfeldt, Barnesville, MN, Derek (Amber Votava) Hanson, Barnesville, MN, Heather (Craig) Hedlund, Moorhead, MN, Mark Farrington, St. Paul, MN, and Tom (Faith Binman) Farrington, St. Paul, MN. Great grandchildren are Jacob and Emma Grafstrom; Isabelle, Luke, and Adam Tonsfeldt; Klyer and Natalie Votava; Hailey, Kelsey, and Justin Hedlund; Danielle, Millie, and Adalyn Farrington. Becky is also survived by siblings, George Simenson, Susan (David Jankovich, Bob (Georgia) Simenson; sister in law Geraldine Tonsfeldt; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Becky was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Tonsfeldt, parents, Connie (Cornish) and Ralph Simenson, siblings, Claudia and Audrey, and great grandchildren, Hope Tonsfeldt and Faolan Farrington. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Monday, March 23, 2015 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN with Rev. Dave Astrup officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
