Roger Ellefson, 68, died on Monday morning April 6, 2015 at his home in rural Barnesville. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barnesville with Rev. Arlen Hermodson. Burial will follow in City Cemetery, Barnesville, MN. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Friday, April 10, 2015 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Roger Gordon Ellefson was born on November 6, 1946 to Gordon Arnold and Pearl Viola (Shulstad) Ellefson at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He grew up on the family farm south of Barnesville. He attended school in Barnesville and graduated in the class of 1964. On, June 14, 1969, he was united in marriage to Dianne Kay Ernst. They made their home all of their lives on the farm south of Barnesville. Roger had a true love of farming and his dream was to have a feed lot and raise cattle. He was a steward of the land and believed in conservation. Roger loved his grandchildren and the time they spent together. He served on the watershed board for 41 years. He has also served on the Atherton Township Board for over another 40 years. Roger was a lifelong 4-H participant, with himself, children, and grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of the Barnesville Rod and Gun Club. He was active in the Jaycee's and awarded the outstanding young farmer in 1981. Roger was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, active in the brotherhood, where he was chairman for many years. He was a key leader in the church's annual Lutefisk feed. Roger also was instrumental in the yearly Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed at the VFW in Barnesville for that last 30 plus years. He was a Vermeer Dealer and enjoyed the invention of a round baler. He is survived by his wife Dianne; four children: Brian, Cindy and Brent Ellefson and Melissa (Randy) Thune, all of Barnesville; two grandchildren: Jorden and Evan Thune; two brothers: David (Marion) Ellefson, Bismarck, ND and Arnie (Sharon) Ellefson, Barnesville; sister-in-law Ann Ellefson, Starbuck, MN; brother-in-law Glen Johnson, Twin Cities; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
