George Bergseid, 80, of Sabin, MN died on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at his home under the care of hospice. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with Rev. Jim Greene and Keith Walka officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2015, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday. George Henry Bergseid was born on October 4, 1934, in Barnesville to Joseph Clarence and Ida Annetta (Arntson) Bergseid. He grew up on a farm south of Rollag and attended school in Barnesville, graduating in 1953. Following high school, he attended Moorhead State University and graduated from Dakota Business School. In 1955, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country being honorably discharged in the 1961. On October 19, 1957, he was united in marriage to Vaughn Anderson. George began working as a butcher for Running Meats in Fargo. He then went into plumbing and worked at Valley Service, Sorenson Plumbing, and Robert Gibb and Sons. He has been in the plumbing and steamers union for over 55 years. In 1982, his next venture in life was selling crop insurance with his wife Vaughn at Bergseid Insurance in Moorhead. He continued that until his health forced him to slow down. George is survived by his wife Vaughn, Sabin; two daughters: Cindy Bergseid and Mary Bergseid, Moorhead; two brothers: Tosten (Angie) Bergseid, Rollag and Sam (Carolyn) Bergseid, Des Moines, IA; two sisters: Esther Kronbeck, Fargo, and Alice (Vincent) Floberg, Pelican Rapids; four sisters-in-law: Marion, Elva, Marianne, and Norma Bergseid; God son, Chris John Bergseid; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Rollag Lutheran Church and the Comstock Rod and Gun Club. George was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Engel, John, Edward, and Joe Bergseid.
