Martha Drewlow

Martha Drewlow, 95, of Barnesville, MN died on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN with Pastor Tom Eaves officiating. Burial will follow Christ Mitchell Church Cemetery, rural Barnesville. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, April 24, 2015 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barensville. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Martha G. Arntson was born on October 13, 1919 to John and Annetta (Haglund) Arntson in Pelican Rapids, MN. Martha was baptized and on October 8, 1933 confirmed at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, MN. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. Martha married Ferdinand Drewlow on February 18, 1940. Both Martha and Ferdinand worked at the Fred Seifert farm for years. She did housework for others and stayed at people's homes while mothers were in the hospital having a baby. During her married years, Martha raised her children and worked on the farm with her husband. In the last few years of her life, Martha was a resident of Golden Manor Assisted Living in Barnesville and Golden Living Center in Moorhead. Martha was involved in 4-H, Homemakers and L.W.M.L. She was a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Barnesville. She taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and was a secretary of the Ladies Aid at St. John's. Martha was an independent and strong woman. She took care of her farm for many years, following the death of her husband in 1977. She also enjoyed needle work and reading. She gardened for many years. She made a tea ring every Easter for her family. Martha is survived by five children: Ernie (Shirley) Drewlow, Barnesville, Gary (Evonie) Drewlow, Hawley, MN, Diana (Bob) Olsen, Maplewood, MN, Paul (ReNee) Drewlow, Wahpeton, ND, Bruce Drewlow, Minneapolis, MN; 9 grandchildren: Carl Drewlow, Debra (Jay) Nordgaard, Daniel Drewlow, Marsha (David) Wichmann, Michael (Valerie) Drewlow, Mark Drewlow, Jason Matthews, Joy Nelson and RaeAnn Drewlow; 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Luella Drewlow, Breckenridge, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Ferdinand; her parents; a son David Drewlow; and three brothers: John Edwin and twin brothers, John Gerald and James Harald.
