Gordon Stellmach, 86, passed away peacefully on his farm in rural Barnesville, MN on Friday, July 24, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial was 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Barnesville. Visitation was held 5-8 PM, Monday, July 27, 2015 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, and continued one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday. Gordon Wallace Stellmach was born on March 11, 1929 to Frank and Lena (Motzko) Stellmach on the family farm in Wilkin County, six miles out of Barnesville. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. When the Catholic School opened in Barnesville, he lived with his grandmother in town to attend school. Gordon married Mary Katherine Roesch on September 29, 1962 at the Catholic Church in Barnesville. Gordon lived at the farm all of his life. They raised their three children there. He worked the fields until 1972. He also loved to hunt and fish and passed that love onto his family. He enjoyed reading about and working on guns. He was knowledgeable about firearms and was a superb shot. With an eye for detail he would engrave firearms and do taxidermy work for friends and family. He built whirlybirds and birdhouses. Later in life he loved to watch the garden grow and listen to the many birds feeding at his bird feeders. Gordon was a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary, three children: Frank, Barnesville, Gordy (Janyce), Becker, MN, and Marlene (Dan) Boutain, Lubbock, TX, 8 grandchildren: Angela Gehrig, Nicole (Seth) Stone, Steven Boutain, Jacob Stellmach, Adam Stellmach, Samantha Stellmach, Wesley Cavegn , Reana Cavegn, 2 great grandchildren: Taylor and Jaxon Stone, 4 siblings: Elaine Landa, Moorhead, David Stellmach, Pelican Rapids, Edwin (Peggy) Stellmach, Lake Park, Judith Stellmach, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
