John "Jack" Eggert, 65, of Barnesville, MN died on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. John Earl Eggert was born on September 1, 1949 to Earl Martin and Beverly Jean (Short) Eggert in Valley City, ND. He grew up in Dazey, ND and attended grade school in Dazey and then high school at North Central School graduating in 1967. During these young years he helped his grandfather on the farm and also worked in gas stations in Valley City. He served his country in the US Air Force for four years and reached the rank of Staff Sargent. Part of the time he was stationed in Canada where he worked as a mechanic. A few of Jack's buddies and he worked as a Canadian Ski Patrol in their spare time. He was stationed lastly in Grand Forks, ND. After returning home from the service Jack worked for Morton Buildings. He was united in marriage to Sharon Ann Kimble on April 28, 1973 in Hope, ND. They lived in Hope, ND and Jack worked for Kienz Construction. Jack and Sharon lived in West Fargo, ND for five years and then in 1979, they moved to Barnesville, MN. He worked for Firestone in Fargo, ND and then worked for OK Tire for over 30 years. During that time at OK, he worked as store manager and later became the credit and collection manager. Jack was handy with his tools and working around the house. In his younger years, he had a race car and enjoyed racing. He loved the water, including swimming, sailing, and fishing. He was obsessed with campers and camping. He and Sharon had dreams of camping more and more following retirement. Jack liked guns and target shooting. He was known as "Pa" to many people and his grandchildren. Most recently, he loved to watch the Barrett Jackson Car Auctions and NCIS. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, Barnesville, two daughters: Vikki Schneeberger, West Fargo, ND, Betsy (Scott) Askegard, Barnesville, four grandchildren: Parker and Cade Schneeberger, Gage and Mya Askegard, siblings, Kerry Eggert, Valley City, ND, Diane Brandenburger, Jamestown, ND, Tena (Steve) Pederson, Valley City, ND, several in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
