Carol LuCille Nelson, 93, of rural Wolverton, MN passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Valley Care and Rehab Center in Barnesville, Minnesota. LuCille was born on May 19, 1922 to Hjalmer and Borghild Hanson of Wolverton, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She attended college at Stout State, Menominee,Wisconsin. LuCille married Raymond W. Nelson on June 19, 1942 in Manhattan, Kansas. The couple returned to farm and raise their family in the Wolverton area where she was a homemaker. LuCille is survived by three children: Raymond W. Nelson II of Wolverton; Calise Carriere of Horizon City, Texas; and Cheryl (Dennis) Pate of Urbandale, Iowa. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Paul (Sara) Nelson of Golden Valley, Minnesota; Heather (Randy) Schmidt of Duluth, Minnesota: Stephanie (Mark) Brewster of Arvada, Colorado; Todd (Kelly) Pate of El Dorado Hills, California; and Sara (Eric) O’Brien of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Other survivors include 10 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Rose Hanson of Wolverton, and Mildred Dunham of Valencia, California. LuCille was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; her parents; and 2 brothers: Howard and Gerald Hanson. LuCille will be remembered for her almost 12,000 volunteer hours at Bethany Homes, a retirement living community in Fargo, ND. Lucille loved butterflies and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, reading and sewing. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Fish Lake watching and listening to the grandchildren play. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 30th at Faith Lutheran Church, 302 1st Street, Wolverton. Please feel free to come visit with the family an hour prior the services on Saturday. A private burial will be held for family members. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to all the staff at Valley Care and Rehab for their excellent care and support.
