Michael Hoppe

Michael Hoppe, 28, of Barnesville, Minnesota died on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Golden Valley Rehabilitation and Care Center in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville. Visitation will resume one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday at the church.  Michael Dennis Hoppe was born December 15, 1987 to Dennis and Jenny (Furst) Hoppe in Fargo, North Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville.  On April 14, 2006 Michael was paralyzed from the chest-down due to injuries suffered in an ATV accident.  Later that year he graduated from Barnesville High School.  Through the years he was a resident at a variety of health-care facilities.  He was also in and out of hospitals due to complications suffered in the ATV accident.  Michael enjoyed collecting football and baseball cards, playing video games, watching and participating in demolition derbies, and as a young boy watching trains from Otter Tail Valley Railroad. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and a former member of the Barnesville High School Football Team. Michael is survived by his father Dennis Hoppe, Barnesville; mother Jenny Hoppe, Barnesville; brother Christopher (Michelle) Hoppe, Barnesville; 2 sisters: Hayley Hoppe and Brooke Hoppe, both of Barnesville; nieces and nephews: Emily Smith and Jacob Hoppe, Greyson Hoppe, Keeton, Nathan, and Payton Lewis; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Arthur and Phyllis Furst; Frank and Vivian Hoppe; an aunt, uncle and two cousins. PALLBEARERS: Justin Halvorson, Jeremiah Cunningham, Bonnie Halvorson, Theresa Renecker, Carmen Pattengale, Mark Rambow, Ken Just and Stephen Ambrose.
