Cindy B Sogn

Cindy Sogn, 61, of Barnesville, MN died on Thursday, May 26, 2016 after a brief and courageous battle of pancreatic cancer at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.     Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville with Pastor Thomas Eaves officiating.  Burial will follow in the Prairie View Cemetery, Barnesville.   Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, Monday, May 30, 2016 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral at the church.   Cynthia Barbara Olson was born on May 25, 1955 to Thomas and Ivy (Scheffler) Olson in Moorhead, MN.  She was  baptized and confirmed at Little Bethany Church, rural Barnesville.  She attended school and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1973.  She then graduated from Moorhead Tech as a medical secretary.  She worked at Western States Life.  She was united in marriage to David Vernon Sogn on May 17, 1975.  They raised their family on the family farm east of Barnesville.   During the time she raised her family, she also made wedding and specialty cakes.  She also was the church organist at Little Bethany.  She worked at Moorhead State University in several departments beginning in 1988, retiring in 2015.  Cindy was artistic and enjoyed photography.  She thoroughly enjoyed her time laughing with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Dave of Barnesville; three children:  Melissa (Kelly) Erdmann, Moorhead, MN; Trisha (Brad) Rutten, West Fargo, ND; and Matt (Christine) Sogn, Hawley, MN; four grandchildren: Paige and Gavin Dewar; and Regan and Jake Erdmann; her parents Tom and Ivy Olson, Barnesville, MN; mother-in-law Berdella Sogn, Fergus Falls, MN; and four siblings:  Christi (Mark) Biederman, Fergus Falls, MN; Tim (Vicki) Olson, Fargo, ND; Gary (Sherri) Olson, Oshkosh, WI; David (Kandi) Olson, Hazen, ND; several nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.  Cindy was preceded in death by her father-in-law Kenneth Sogn; and her grandparents.
